Join artist Elizabeth Pyle of Bottle Branch stationery for a very special workshop at The Paper Mouse! She’ll guide participants through the process of arranging and photographing a botanical flat lay, a popular technique where objects are arranged on a flat surface and photographed from above. Flat lays with flowers, leaves and other natural elements have enduring popularity and appeal, and form the basis of the art of Bottle Branch.
Enjoy spring flowers in a tangible way during this workshop as you try your hand at your own botanical flat lay. Working with real seasonal flowers and foliage, you’ll arrange and design your own flat lay on a white board, exploring elements of design and considering color, shape and texture. You’ll then learn how to best photograph your flat lay, experimenting with natural and artificial light.
Participants should bring a phone or digital camera they are already comfortable using, as the workshop will focus on setting up the shot.
Participants should bring:
- Floral shears or plant clippers (extras will be provided for those who need them)
- A camera or smartphone for photography
- A small empty jar to bring home leftover flowers (optional)
