Pilot’s Iro-Utsushi pen combines the smooth nib of a fountain pen with the ease and simplicity of a dip pen, so it’s easy to switch between ink colors while you’re writing or drawing. Like a traditional dip pen, the Iro-Utsushi has no ink reservoir—you just dip it in ink to write. But unlike a traditional dip pen, it has a smooth-writing rounded nib that feels like a fountain pen nib and can write with fountain pen inks, not just thick calligraphy inks. The nib is stiff (unlike flexible calligraphy nibs) and made of rust-proof stainless steel. It’s great for testing out new ink colors and changing colors frequently: all you have to do is clean the nib with water and wipe it dry.

To write with the Iro-Utsushi pen, just dip it into your ink up to the wavy line engraved on the nib. Note that this pen comes with a fixed nib that can’t be removed.
